Our story is rooted in a deep connection and commitment to, and investment in, the education and wellness of the community at all ages and stages of life. Despite being in one of the most financially deprived and underserved communities in Chicago, Little Angels is building a foundation that is changing the trajectory of lives and positioning people to contribute meaningfully to our society. Our work exemplifies “Something Good In Englewood” and demonstrates what is possible.
Our journey
Little Angels Family Learning Center (LALC) began in 1994 as a single preschool classroom on the east side of Parkway Gardens, at 64th Street and King Drive. Years later, we moved to 6701 S. Emerald, where we utilize a shared site space, assembling and disassembling full classrooms every week to free our learning spaces for multi-purpose events and meeting spaces.
In 2024, we are scheduled to open a dedicated, two-level community center that will double the number of our early learning classrooms, house a summer youth employment program and offer year-round youth programming. This modern facility will multiply our service capacity to accommodate the evolving needs of our children, families and surrounding communities.
The Englewood neighborhood is the backbone and driving inspiration for our work. We have a foundational mission to be and bring positive light to our community, and provide safe spaces for resident growth and development. Across these years, we have served thousands of children and families — our parents become advocates and civic leaders, our alumni come back to serve as volunteers, and our students go on to numerous gifted and selected enrollment programs.

Our mission is to serve children and families in Englewood and adjoining communities by providing high-quality services that will prepare them to become life-long learners. We enhance our children’s early childhood learning and education experience by ensuring that parents, families and team members partner and work together collectively.

- We use the Creative Curriculum, which holistically prepares children for kindergarten readiness and developmental and educational success.
- We offer small and diverse class sizes, allowing one-on-one interactions that facilitate quality learning and planting the seeds for long-lasting relationships.
- We take pride in the success of our program, transitioning more than 90 percent of our graduating Pre-K class to magnet schools each year.
- We keep parents engaged and involved in the learning experience and have an open-door policy.
